Photos by Apsley House in Bath was built as the country home for The Duke of Wellington, after his momentous victory against Napoleon in the Battle of Waterloo.  The rumour is that it was built asa place where he could keep his mistress of that time, as he was estranged from his wife years earlier. The history behind the hotel is evident wherever you look, from the original oven downstairs to the Duke’s own master bedroom on the first floor.
